Divorce Care

A course helping men and women navigate broken relationships

You don’t need to go it alone.

You don’t need to go it alone.

Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences that they’ve ever faced. Our Divorce Care course was made to help deal with the pain of the past, and look forward to rebuilding your life.

What to expect

What to expect

“I’ve never been to a support group like this before… I don’t know what to expect.”

It’s not uncommon to feel isolated when going through a separation. But here, you’ll find that you’re not alone, and that there are others who understand what you’re going through.

You’ll probably feel a little nervous about going to Divorce Care for the first time. Those feelings go away quickly for most people during their first session, as they meet people who understand and can empathise with similar hurts, emotions, and painful experiences. Because of that, most people quickly feel comfortable and accepted in their Divorce Care group.

You’ll watch video seminars on different topics, and hear case studies of people who have experienced separation, learning helpful, practical information that will give you tools to start putting the pieces back together.

You’ll have the chance to talk about your experiences. It can be healing to tell others what you’re going through. The group sessions include dedicated time to talk about what you’ve heard through the videos, and what’s going on in your life. And while you have the opportunity to tell your story, there’s also no pressure for you to do so if you don’t feel like it.

Really, you’ll become part of a ‘family’. Group members often tell us that they feel like their group has become a family; that they made new friends, and they are around people they can relate to. Our groups are facilitated to be a safe environment; because of this, dating relationships between group participants is not encouraged (to allow time for you to focus on personal healing)

Seminar Topics

Seminar Topics

During the first 30-40 minutes of the meeting, the group watch a video seminar, featuring experts on divorce and recovery.
These videos are produced in an easy-to-watch television-magazine format, featuring interviews, real-life case studies, and on-location video.

The seminar topics include:

    • What is happening to me?

    • The road to healing/finding help

    • Facing my anger

    • Facing my depression

    • Facing my loneliness

    • What does the owner’s manual say?

    • New relationships?

    • Financial survival

    • Kid care

    • Single sexuality

    • Forgiveness

    • Reconciliation

    • Moving on, growing closer to God

After that there is open discussion, which is often the most helpful time of the night as we get a chance to process together what our different experiences have been and to learn from each other's journey.

Domestic violence

Watch the video below, but also see Village's full policy on Domestic Violence here.

Since the murder of Abel, Domestic Violence has been a major issue in family life. Dominic Steele opens up the Bible to explore this subject and preach a message to the abused, the abuser and the church.
