Village Community Group Leaders Support - 2026
As Village Church, we desire to glorify God by seeing the inner west, growing as disciples of Jesus by:
1 Growing Village in depth and numbers
2 Sending 2+ people per year into fulltime ministry
3 Strengthening God’s kingdom beyond Village
Our big prayer is that we might more deeply love, honour and trust the Lord Jesus, and that God’s love for us might move our minds, hearts, godly desires and emotions that we would give him our lives, our souls, our all.
You will see on a separate document our proposed plan for the first discussion for the year where we are proposing to discuss set goals as a group together in areas of Maturity, Membership, Ministry and Mission.
However I wanted you to know that we are planning to provide studies for you to use (to assist in your workflow).
I am wanting to be clear that we expect you to follow these studies in term four, when we will be doing our vision season together.
In the other terms the coaches and I are more relaxed. I expect most will follow these. Some leaders will opt for ‘Choose your own adventure.’ You can workshop what will be best for your group, taking into account your collective preparation capacity.
We are hoping that in terms two and three there in many groups would be a fair bit of others facilitating discussion. So that where possible your role (after setting the culture etc in term one) evolves into you doing a fair bit of coaching others to step up in their pastoral leadership and teaching gifts. Again please discuss this with your community group coach.
The studies that we provide will work in tandem with the sermon series in term one (Face to Face with Jesus from Luke’s gospel), term three (Genesis 12-30) and our vision season in term four. The studies for term two are not proposed to be linked to the preaching series.
Group studies are accessible here.
Here's some suggestions
1. Pray - talk to God about everything and this is the best thing that you can do for your members.
2. Read - listen to God through the Bible, understand what he's saying with the Holy Spirit, and practice it to work out how to obey.
3. Teach - help your members to grow in Christ by preparing as well as you can together, facilitating discussion to engage, and asking each person to take away an application.
4. Care - love your members by including personal items in prayer times, following up absences with enquiries about wellbeing, and chats about discipleship.
5. Socials - one group meeting around the end of each term to enjoy fellowship together doing something fun like games, outings, activities, leisure usually accompanied by food!
Take care,
Dominic, Fiona, Conrad and Ben
